The invention relates to an anti-theft hub cap for a vehicle wheel. According to the invention, this hub cap 1 comprises a protection flange 2, applied in a sealed fashion against the rim 3 of a wheel to be protected, and equipped with a temporary fastening device 5 for temporarily retaining the flange against the rim, a manoeuvring device 6 accessible from the outside for controlling the position of the latter, and an inviolable locking device 7 capable of blocking the fastening device in the fastening configuration. Application to the protection against theft of motor vehicle wheels, especially for private motor vehicles, and even the protection of these vehicles against theft.
