In a channel drier for slab-shaped goods, with revolving transport chains (1,2) arranged one above the other and having carriers (3,4), the horizontally transported slabs (25) are aligned when entering, and their front edges are set by a setting device (9-14) in the carriers (4) of the lower transport chains (2). They are then conveyed through the channel, standing upright and transversely to the direction of conveying, between the inner runs of the transport chains (1,2). The setting device (9-14) is mounted so as to be horizontally adjustable. Thus the positional displacement of the carriers (4) in the setting region due to the longitudinal expansion caused by heating of the lower transport chains (2) can be corrected.
