The tubes 4 leading into the tube plate 5 of a heat exchanger of this type have to be examined and repaired with a manipulator 7 from the tube plate 5. To reduce the inspection time, it is proposed that the supporting body 8 of the manipulator 7 consist of a stationary part 9 and a part 12 rotatable relative to the same. Projecting radially outwards from the rotatable part 12 are symmetrically arranged arms 16, 16a which have at their free end a tool carrier 21 rotatable relative to the respective arm. Here, the rotatable part 12 is designed as a rotary drive 13 connected to the stationary part 9. The output shaft 17 of this rotary drive 13 carries a bar which forms the arms 16, 16a projecting in opposite directions. <IMAGE>
