The invention relates to a simplification of the known pocket knife, which is achieved in that a tool steel is half forged into a blade with a straight cutting edge and a knife-cutting edge which is rounded off at the point. The steel is rounded off in a mirror-symmetrical fashion on the handle side, and the point is ground down to the base line at an angle of 110 DEG and forged into an 8 mm wide screwdriver blade. The blade is magnetised and has a 5 mm hole drilled at the balancing point, and, held by a cord, the magnetised blade rotates in a north-south direction like a compass needle. The 65 mm long protective casing for the blade matches the shape of the blade, consists of reinforced plastic and has a slot on its rounded-off front, so that it can be placed onto the blade even when it has been turned through 180 DEG . The point of the blade which is exposed in this manner can now be used as a carpet knife. The protective casing is pushed over the handle side for use as a pocket knife.
