PURPOSE:To simplify a structure, in a biosensor having an working electrode for detecting the quantity of a substance to be measured on which a physiologically active substance was immobilized, by providing a working electrode for detecting the quantity of a measurement obstructing substance and making the counter electrode of both working electrodes common. CONSTITUTION:A biosensor is constituted by providing base plate 23 to the upper and lower surfaces of a spacer 1 and forming specimen passages 4, 5 in the spacer 1. A wroking electrode 3a for detecting the quantity of a substance to be measured, wherein enzyme such as glucoseoxidase is immobilized on the main body of an electrode such as platinum electrode, and a working electrode 3b for detecting a measurement obstructing substance, which comprises platinum, are provided to the base plate 3 and, as the common counter electrode 26 of both working electrodes, a Ag-AgCl electrode is provided. The current IA between the working electrode 3a and the counter electrode 2b corresponds to the sum of the quantities of the substance to be measured and the obstructing substance, and the current IB between the working electrode 3b and the counter electrode 2b corresponds to the quantity of the obstructing substance. Therefore, the quantity of the substance to be measured is detected corresponding to the value obtained by subtracting the current IB from the current IA and, because the counter electrode is common, a structure becomes simple and highly accurate measurement is enabled. |
