A transmitter emitting electromagnetic or acoustic waves is used in combination with a receiver for analysing these waves. A method for checking the state of an element formed in the ground comprises the use of a transmitter emiting electromagnetic or acoustic waves and a receiver for analysing these waves. An independent claim is also included for the measurement apparatus used.
