PURPOSE:To reduce energy cost and environmental pollution control load by using a stabilizing soln. contg. a specified compd. to execute the stabilization treatment of a silver halide photographic sensitive material contg. a specified magenta coupler without using rinse water. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive material contg. the magenta coupler of formula I (Ar is substd. phenyl or the like; Y is a group releasable on forming a dye; X is halogen, alkoxy, or the like; R is a substituent; and n is 1 or 2) is subjected to stabilization treatment with the stabilizing soln. contg. at least one of phenol type, thiazoline type, and triazine type compds. in the final step for processing the coupler, following the steps of development and fixation, without a water rinse step. Said material also contains a sensitizing dye of formula II in which Z1, Z2 are each an atomic group for forming a benzene or naphthalene ring condensed with an oxazole ring; R1, R2 are each alkyl, aryl, or the like; R3 is H or 1-3C alkyl; X1<-> is an anion; and n is 0 or 1. The stabilizing soln. contains Fe<+++> in an amt. of 10ppm. Such treatment permits a dye image improved in long period storage stability to be obtained even without water rinsing. |
