PURPOSE:To obtain an austenitic material for a pipe for an oil well having superior resistance to corrosion, especially stress corrosion cracking by heating an austenitic material contg. Cu, Ni, Cr and Mo to a high temp. and by subjecting it to hot working, quenching and aging. CONSTITUTION:An austenitic material contg. Cu, Ni, Cr and Mo is heated to >=1,000 deg.C to convert carbides, a precipitate, etc. into solid solns. in the austenite. The material is then hot worked, quenched directly from >=800 deg.C, and aged properly so as to prevent the precipitation of coarse carbides and sigma-phase. |
