An installation for collecting droppings and waste from domestic animals in a safe, hygienically satisfactory and natural manner, so that domestic animals can leave their droppings even within buildings. The installation has a housing with an entrance and an exit aperture for the domestic animal. Within the housing is a platform which supports the domestic animal. A plastic sheet, for the purposes of implementing a horizontal movement, is arranged above the platform and bears, suitably distributed, granules, litter or the like. Movable take-up and stock rolls are provided, to which the plastic sheet is connected, so that the transporting thereof is possible. A motor which drives the take-up roll and the stock roll is provided for the transporting movement of the plastic sheet. Above the platform is a litter holder with a base aperture and a metering device for the litter to be distributed on the plastic sheet. Below the platform is a waste chamber provided with a collecting bag or the like and having a screen to filter the waste substances. The waste chamber is separate from the remainder of the housing and can be removed, so that the domestic animal is secured relative to the latter.
