PURPOSE:To start welding stably and prevent occurrence of weld defects by generating an arc for specified time by initial current capable of arc starting and after maintaining at current lower than initial current for a specified time, changing to high steady-state current. CONSTITUTION:When making arc welding using a consumable electrode, an arc is generated for 0.4-3.5 seconds under initial current I1 capable of arc starting. Then, current is changed to current I2 lower than initial current I1, and after continuing this for 2-10 seconds, changed to steady-state current I3 higher than current I2. Thus, welding is started stably, and at the same time, swelling of a bead at starting part of welding is eliminated, and occurrence of weld defects such as incomplete fusion etc. caused by swelling of bead is prevented. |
