<p>PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of heat in an ignition coil by connecting a first and a second switching element in series between the terminals of a DC power source via the first and the second parts of the primary coil of an ignition coil, and using a resonance capacitor having a negative temperature coefficient. CONSTITUTION:An ignition coil 16 has a primary coil which is divided into two parts 161, 162 by means of a midpoint tap and a secondary coil 163, while including a resonance capacitor 15 having a negative temperature coefficient which is connected to the midpoint tap. And, one closed circuit is formed by a capacitor 4, a thyristor (a first switching element) 13, the primary coil 161, and the resonance capacitor 15, while another closed circuit is formed by the primary coil 162, a thyristor (a second switching element) 20 and the resonance capacitor 15. The thyristors 13, 20 are controlled to conduct alternately at a certain timing by means of a trigger signal generating circuit which operates according to an ignition indicating signal.</p> |
