PURPOSE:To obtain always an optimum output by comparing and discriminating the level of a reproduced signal and outputting it as tracking error information and selecting and reproducing the combination of a maximum reproduced output on a basis of this information. CONSTITUTION:Outputs reproduced by heads 14 are inputted immediately to a selecting circuit 17 to output head outputs as the output of one channel, and this output is outputted through a rotary transformer 18. This output is amplified by an amplifier 19 and is inputted to a comparing circuit 20, and the level of the reproduced signal which is changed in accordance with head switching is compared and discriminated by the comparing circuit and is outputted as tracking error information. The combination of a maximum reproduced output is selected on a basis of this information by the selecting circuit 17, and signals are reproduced in accordance with this combination to obtain always an optimum output. The tape feeding speed is controlled on a basis of tracking error information to follow up the tracking error. |
