PURPOSE:To obtain a titled alloy having a desired carbon content with a single process without using electric power in a method for melt reduction and refining of a high Mn iron alloy consisting in charging of Mn ore, etc., solid carbon material and slag forming agent to a top and bottom blown converter type reaction vessel by decarburizing the alloy after formation of said alloy. CONSTITUTION:The molten high Mn iron alloy and molten slag are allowed to remain in a top and bottom blown converter and O2 or O2-contg. gas is preliminarily blown into the converter through the inside pipe of a bottom blowing nozale and N2, etc. through the outside pipe. The carbon material is first charged into said converter and the blowing of the O2 or O2-contg. gas from a top blowing lance is started. The Mn ore and/or the preliminarily reduced ore thereof as well as the carbon material and slag forming material are charged into the converter. The Mn oxide in the molten raw material is reduced by excess C after a specified rate of blowing and charging of the raw material are completed in the above-mentioned manner. The gas to be blown through the inside pipe of the bottom blowing nozzle is preferably replaced with propane, N2, etc. in the reduction period. Part of the formed slag is removed from the converter after blowing for specified time and the O2 or O2-contg. gas is blown to the remaining slag and the high Mn iron alloy contg. the satd. C, by which the slag and the alloy are decarburized. |
