PURPOSE:To increase the life of a sealed lead storge battery by coating the outer surface of the container with a macromolecular material with small moisture permeability. CONSTITUTION:A sealed lead storage battery is constituted by using a container 1 coated with a macromolecular material 7 such as a fluorine-system resin or a polyvinylidene chloride resin which has a moisture permeability of at most 10g per 1m<2> and 24hr (determined under conditions specified by JIS Z 0208; moisture permeability thickness of 0.1mm., relative humidity difference of 90%, at 40 deg.C). As a result, any decrease in the amount of electrolyte is prevented which might be caused by the permeation of steam through the container 1. Consequently, it is possible to prevent any decreased output capacity and any decreased life of the battery which might result from a decrease in the amount of electrolyte, thereby extending the life of the battery. |
