PURPOSE:To find out the latent heat value of a heat accumulating material by storing a substance of which heat capacity has been already known in one of the 1st and 2nd containers having the same shape and consisting of the same material and storing the heat accumulating material in the other container. CONSTITUTION:A substance of which specific heat has been already known is stored airtightly in the 1st container. When the initial temperature of the substance is defined as T1 and the 1st container is put into a thermostatic oven of which inner temperature is T2, a temperature curve theta1 is like an exponential function raised from a time t=0 when the 1st container is put into the thermostatic oven. When the heat accumulating material having the initial temperature T1 which is stored in the 2nd container is put into the thermostatic oven having the internal temperature T2, the temperature theta2 of the heat accumulating material is also raised like an exponential function. If the melting temperature of the heat accumulating material is defined as thetaA, the temperature curve theta2 reaches the melting point thetaA at a time t2, its calorie is used for melting and the temperature rise stops. The calorie obtained from the thermostatic oven is absorbed to the heat accumulating material, and when the whole heat accumulating material is completely melted at a time t3, the temperature theta2 is raised again and approaches the final temperature T2. Thus, the latent heat value is found out easily from a prescribed formula by measuring and recording the temperatures in both the containers and times. |
