PURPOSE:To obtain a novel copolymer having high randomness of the monomer units and excellent thermal stability, and useful as a polymer modifier, by copolymerizing an aromatic vinyl compound with a specific unsaturated peroxycarbonate and a fumaric acid diester. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer can be produced by copolymerizing (A) an aromatic vinyl compound (e.g. styrene), (B) an unsaturated peroxycarbonate of formula I (R1 is H or 1-4C alkyl; R2 and R3 are 1-4C alkyl; R4 is 1-12C alkyl or 3-12C cycloalkyl) (e.g. t-butyl peroxyallylcarbonate) and (C) a fumaric acid diester of formula II (R5 and R6 are 1-12C alkyl or 3-12C cycloalkyl) (e.g. diisopropyl fumarate) e.g. by bulk polymerization. |
