PURPOSE:To obtain the titled resin of good appearance with its gel content below a specific level, by graft polymerization, to an ethylene, alpha-olefin rubber, of an aromatic vinyl compound, vinyl cyanide or unsaturated carboxylic alkyl ester. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin, i.e. a graft polymer with a gel content <=60wt%, can be obtained by graft polymerization, based on, e.g., suspension polymerization process, to (A) 10-60wt% of an ethylene-alpha-olefin rubber pref. with a molar ratio of ethylene to alpha-olefin 5/1-1/3 (e.g. ethylene-propylene-butene three dimensional copolymer), of (B) 90-60wt% of at least one sont of monomer selected from (1) aromatic vinyl compounds (e.g. styrene), (2) vinyl cyanides (e.g. acrylonitrile), and (3) unsaturated carboxylic alkyl esters [e.g., methyl (meth)- acrylate]. This polymer can be prepared by regulating types and amounts of the raw material rubber to be used (iodine value), initiator, and molecular weight regulator. |
