<p>A method for forming a two-dimensional map of a three-dimensional object (10) has the steps of mapping the three-dimensional object to an ellipsoid (12) and then mapping the ellipsoid (12) to a two-dimensional surface. Mapping of the three-dimensional object (10) to the ellipsoid (12) is accomplished by forming a plurality of generally parallel, generally planar slides (16) of the three-dimensional objects (10) which correspond to similar slices (18) of the ellipsoid (12) and projecting each point on the surface of a slice of the three-dimensional object (10) to a corresponding point of the ellipsoid (12). Mapping the ellipsoid to two-dimensional surface may be done according to various different contemporary methodologies.</p> |
