The invention relates to a water meter of the single-jet type. In order to improve the sensitivity of the meter for small flow rates, the bottom 40 of the measurement chamber 12 is fitted with radial ribs 44 which project into the chamber. The aim of these ribs is to create turbulent phenomena forming a "hydraulic plug" in the zone occupied by the ribs 44. The driving of the turbine by laminar flow is thus improved for small flow rates. <IMAGE>
