Sulphomethylation products of amino esters of alkanolamines of the formula HO-alkylene1-NHR1 in which R1 denotes hydrogen, C1-4-alkyl, -alkylene2-OH or -(CH2)n-NR2R3, R2 denotes hydrogen, -alkylene2-OH or C1-4-alkyl, R3 denotes hydrogen, -alkylene2-OH or C1-4-alkyl alkylene1 and alkylene2 in each case denote 1,2-ethylene or 1,2-propylene, and n denotes 2 or 3, and fatty acids of the formula R-COOH in which R denotes C11-21-alkyl or alkenyl optionally containing hydroxyl groups or functional derivatives thereof, are very highly suitable as non-permanent plasticisers for fibre material, in particular for cellulose-containing textile material, and the invention relates to these sulphomethylation products, their preparation and their use for the non-permanent finishing of fibre material, and to the corresponding preparations optionally containing a non-ionic emulsifier.
