In order to increase working safety in the forest, power saws which are used in felling work are equipped with an exhaust-gas siren. This siren generates a sound pressure level which is clearly perceived even when ear protection is worn. The frequency is selected such that the warning tone stands out clearly from the background noise. The warning tone thus generated is intended for co-workers who are in the felling and fall areas. The warning shout of "look out" or "timber" which is required by the accident prevention regulations can thus be dispensed with.
