PURPOSE:To simplify connection work, to reduce optical loss at the end surface of an optical fiber and to obtain efficient transmissibity by filling a space between the end surface and the optical transmission part of an optical fiber insertion hole with transmissible oil. CONSTITUTION:A photodetecting element (or a light emitting element) 2 is inserted into one end of a cylindrical receptacle 10 and a plug 12 inserted into the other end oppositely to the element 2 is molded by synthetic resin such as acrylic resin having high transmissibility and has an optical fiber insersion hole 13. To connect many optical fibers to the element 2, the element 2 is inserted into one end of the receptacle 10, the optical fiber insertion hole 13 of the plug 12 is filled with transmissible oil 4 and the many optical fibers 3 are inserted into the hole 13 so that air is not left between the end surface of the optical fiber 3 and the inside of a transmission part. Thus, light projected (or made incident) from/to the end surface is transmitted through the transmission part 15 without being dispersed into the oil layer, so that optical loss can be reduced. |
