A radio network having a central station (6) and having physically separate transmitting/receiving installations (1, 2, 3) whose transmitters (9, 10, 11) transmit on an identical, or on an approximately identical, frequency and whose receivers (15, 16, 17) receive a second frequency, the radio network using only one duplex channel for the link to mobile radio stations (4, 5), and the transmitters (9, 10, 11) being driven successively in order to compare the quality of the transmitted signals in a diversity device (7), and the transmitted signals being compressed in order to create time slots to allow the inclusion of data signals between the signals which are to be transmitted, so that the reception quality can be checked during the link at all the receivers and the receiver selection can be changed without interrupting the link, and at the same time common-channel interference in the central station can be prevented. <IMAGE>
