An optically tracked recording article is described which can be encoded with machine readable information. The article comprises a substrate, a radiation sensitive encodable layer and a layer bearing a machine readable tracking pattern. Information may be recorded on the radiation sensitive layer with excellent alignement or registry with the tracking pattern.
