The invention relates to a ball socket with a region integrally formed on a shank for the purpose of receiving a spherical head in a cavity of this region and with a closure part (5), by which the spherical head can be locked after being received in the cavity. The said region consists of a head part (2) and the closure part (5), the head part (2) and a closure part (5) each having part of the cavity (17) and being designed in such a way that, when joined together, they directly form the region for receiving the spherical head. The closure part (5) and the head part (2) are connected to one another via a connecting device (6, 7, 8, 10). The closure part (5) can be locked on the head part (2) to form the region for receiving the spherical head by a latching mechanism (12, 13). <IMAGE>
