The fuel is charged via a filling device into a filling space. The heating boiler has a combustion region with a lower burnout for larger lumpy fuels and a combustion region for underfeed stoking with solid fuels, for example chips, dust, chopped pieces, etc. A common high- temperature region is associated with both combustion regions. For the control of the heating power of the heating boiler, a flue gas regulator is provided whose rate of rotation can be controlled in dependence on the boiler feed temperature and/or the flue gas temperature for the control of the quantities of primary and secondary combustion air. By this construction, in comparison with the state of the art, a better heating boiler is provided, which burns, simultaneously or separately, both lumpy waste and also solid fuels which can be transported pneumatically or by means of a screw. The boiler power is optimally controllable in dependence on the withdrawal of heat. <IMAGE>
