The feed carriage has a hopper with an outlet mounted in a chassis travelling along a laying battery with a fodder trough. The hopper (2) has a metering chain (13) at the outlet (10). The chain speed can be adjustable, or there can be a regulating shutter in front of the outlet. Inside the hopper there can be a plate, bent upwards at the outlet. The chain can extend in the longitudinal direction of the trough and outside the hopper.
