The invention relates to a conveying device for packaging machines for feeding packaged items to the packaging station, having a conveying chain which is provided with carriers and a conveying chain drive. The invention aims to bring about a reduction of the outlay on adjustment when packaging requirements are modified. The object is to be able to carry out continuous angular displacement of the carrier chain drive shaft and the main drive of the feeding conveyor in relation to one another in the operating condition. The object is achieved according to the invention by mounting a chain wheel upstream of the carrier chain drive shaft, and by arranging a chain loop which runs over two pairs of deflection rollers between the carrier chain drive shaft and the chain wheel, the rollers of one pair of deflection rollers being arranged diagonally opposite one another in a non-displaceable fashion and the rollers of the second pair of deflection rollers being arranged opposite one another so as to be displaceable in the running direction of the chain loop. The rollers of the displaceable pair of deflection rollers are fastened to an adjusting carriage, which is displaceable by means of a threaded spindle, which runs in the adjusting carriage in a centred fashion.
