<p>A 1,4-dihydro pyridine deriv. of formula (I) is made by (a) condensing the aldehyde of formula (II), with methyl aceto-acetate and 3-amino crotono-nitrile of formula (IV) in tetrahydrofurane or dioxane at 15-110 deg.
