<p>5-Benzoyl 1,2-dihydro 3H-pyrrolo(1,2-a) pyrrole 1-carboxylic acid is made by hydrolysis and decarboxylation of the ethyl ester of 5-benzoyl 1,2-dihydro 3H-pyrrolo (1,2-a) pyrrole 1,2-dicarboxylic acid in a strongly basic medium at between 50 deg. C and reflux temp.. The prod. is isolated by conventional means and crystallised from organic solvent e.g. methanol, ethanol, isopropanol or other, or their mixts. with water in vol. ratio 3:1.</p> |
