<p>Powdered compsn. comprises 15-90 wt.% Portland cement, 8-25 wt.% of a mixt. of hydrated sodium silicate and hydrated sodium meta silicate powders; 0.5-3 wt.% of a blend of dimethyl esters of succinic, adipic and glutaric acids, and 2-10 wt.% plaster of Paris. The compsn. is mixed with soil at a rate of 5 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. soil, the soil having a water content of 7-10% opt. as a result of adding water. The compsn. is used for stabilisation of soil, esp. to provide non-shrinking non-subsiding backfill for trenches or soil surfaces permitting immediate restoration to usable surfaces. The compsn. finds particular use in locations such as e.g. where pavements have to be torn up to attend to subsurface problems such as ruptured pipes, or to install new services.</p> |
