PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bumper reinforcement used to improve the rigidity of the body of an automobile and to increase the safety of the automobile by absorbing the energy in collision which improves the safety against a so-called offset head-on collision and an oblique impact by extending the length in the right-to-left direction, and is suitable for the vehicle design high in the degree of freedom in fitting, and low in air resistance. SOLUTION: In this bumper reinforcement 1 manufactured by a specified process using a high tensile steel plate, having a substantially B-shaped closed section, its sectional width is gradually reduced toward an end face 80 by bringing a front face close to a rear face at right and left ends 76 in a fitted condition to the automobile.
