<p>An automatic toilet dispensing device for automatically discharging a measured amount of bleach (or detergent, or both) from a container which has an unobstructed opening in its top surface through which tank water can enter and form a reservoir of bleach solution; a venting means is located above the container's top surface for venting air responsive to the intake of tank water through the opening, and for defining the measured amount; the venting means preferably being in the form of a bent tube having a relatively large diameter section adjacent the container's top surface and a distal section of smaller diameter; in operation the liquid solution in the reservoir above the block of bleach or the like rises in the larger diameter section of the venting means to a limited extent; however a water seal formed at the end of the smaller diameter section traps air, thereby preventing complete filling with liquid of the venting means; the measured amount of solution remains in the venting means until the water in the tank is lowered, the measured amount then falling so as to force out an equivalent amount through the intake opening and into the flush water.</p> |
