Herbicide antidote compounds having the formula: <IMAGE> in which R is haloalkyl wherein halo is chlorine, bromine or iodine and the alkyl group has 1-4 carbon atoms, inclusive; R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen; lower alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms, inclusive; alkenyl having 2-4 carbon atoms, inclusive; and phenyl; R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and lower alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms, inclusive; R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and lower alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms, inclusive; R4 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and a nitro group; and either R3 is hydrogen or R4 is hydrogen.
