Solid fuel, i.e., coal, wood char, cokes, or graphite, is prepared by mixing it with a desulfurizing agent (I), i.e., Ca(OH)2, CaCO3, or dolomite and a catalyst (II), i.e., K2CO3, transition metal oxide, carbonate, or hydroxide. wt. ratio of each component in the mixture is 100 : 3 - 20 : 1 - 20. wt. ratio of (I) to (II) is 0.2 - 10. The fuel briquettes are obtained by adding a heat-resistant filler, i.e., MgAl2O4, ZrO2, or SiO2.
