A device for cutting strip material across its length has a single plate frame 10 in which a tool slide 20 carrying a shear tool 25 is reciprocable by a toggle linkage 53, 56 driven by moving cylinders 70 the piston rods 62 of which are fixed to the frame 10. Fluid delivered by way of passages 62a in the piston rods powers the movement of the cylinders for smooth vibration free action. The cylinders have saddles 76 coupled by trunnion blocks 60 to the toggle pin 52. Each cylinder stroke advances then retracts the shear tool. A retractable plunger 86 provides for single-stroke operation. Upper and lower blade mountings are disclosed. <IMAGE> |
