The invention relates to implants, for use in human and in veterinary medicine. The novel implants form, after implantation, an integral structure with the surrounding tissues. The implants consist of a rigid core which is coated with a well adhering matrix, in which there are embedded collagen fibers, part of which protrude from the surface of said matrix. A wide variety of solid physiologically acceptable materials can be used. The matrix may optionally contain additives, such as fibronectin, platelet derived growth factor, bone morphogenic proteins, growth factors, vitamin D or hormones, or a combination of any of these. |
