A bag loading and sealing device comprises a bag evacuating or gas flushing nozzle 8 and bag spreading members 7 laterally movable towards and away from advanced positions in which they fit within corresponding slots 1c, 1a and 1b of a pusher member 1, and also axially movable towards and away from the position of the neck 3a of a bag 3 in a bag sealing station C. The pusher 1 advances a product article into an opened bag and entrains the bag for movement from the bag loading position to a bag sealing position and then, while the product is held in a precisely predetermined position by means of the pusher member 1, the nozzle 8 and the bag spreading members 7 advance first laterally and then axially into the slots formed in the pusher member, after which the pusher member can be retracted while the bag spreading members draw the bag neck into a substantially flat elongate mouth and the nozzle applies either vacuum or inert flushing gas to the interior of the bag for sealing of the bag using heat sealing means. <IMAGE> |
