Amino-phenyl-ethanolamines I [ R1 = H,F,Cl,Br,I,Cyano; R2 = F, alkyl containing 1-5 carbons, hydroxyalkyl, cyano, carboxyl, carbamoyl; R3, R4 = H, alkyl containing 1-6 carbons, alkenyl, alkynyl; R5 = H, alkyl were prepd.. Thus, 1-(4-acethylamino-3trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-2-t- butylamino-ethanol-hydrochloride was refluxed 3hrs in a mixt. of ethanol and a sodium hydroxide soln. The ppt. was filtered, and dissolved in 1N hydrochloric acid, and then recrystd. to give 1-(4- amino-3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-2-tbutyl amino-ethanol. The compds. I have β2-suspective activity and β1, β2-paralysis activity.
