The motor includes a disc-shaped rotor with permanent magnetisation having 2N magnetic poles along an annular region, N being a natural number, and a stator comprising several magnetic circuits (9, 10, ...) arranged so that the magnetic field is contained within the two cylindrical portions of space whose base is the magnetised annular region and which are situated on either side of the rotor. The magnetic circuits each include two groups (91, 92) of four pole parts (111 to 114, 115 to 118). These pole parts are configured so that the axial planes of symmetry (100) of the pole parts of each group form an angle of about 2k pi /N between one another, where k is a natural number, and the planes of a pole part of a group (111) and of the corresponding pole part of the other group (115) form an angle of about (2r + 1) pi /N between one another, where r is a natural number. A magnetic sensor (25, 26) is moreover placed between the two groups of pole parts of a magnetic circuit. This motor can be an industrial usage synchronous motor possibly operating in stepper fashion. <IMAGE>
