The installation for utilising solar energy comprises a thermally insulated (16) space (1) in a non-transparent enclosure (1) at its upper end provided with a (linear) slot (3), and a mirror assembly (4 is part) to reflect solar radiation into the space via the slot. This assembly is mounted (9,8,11 etc) above the space and comprises at least one (concave-section) longitudinal mirror (4; 7,6) extending parallel to the slot. - The space is at least partly filled with, pref. solid, heat accumulating material (13) which may contain a fluid flow duct (12). The space may, alternatively, act as melting furnace for this material discharged in liq. form whilst part is returned to the space mixed with further solid material (e.g. in powder form).
