<p>A coin guide port 50 for approving coins in a coin- handling mechanism 100 requires only a low-power electromagnet 60 to hold the port in an approval position. In the absence of current to the electromagnet, the port passively rejects coins by gravity alone. The port is adapted so as to minimize the requisite holding force in order to minimize the electric power requirement so as thus to make the apparatus suitable for connections with low electric power, such as a coin-operated telephone service. <IMAGE></p> |
