FIBER BLANKET INSULATION MODULES

A refractory ceramic fiber blanket module comprises a strip of ceramic fiber folded serpentine fashion into a number of layers, with the inner surface exposed to the interior of a furnace and the outer surface mounted on the furnace wall. The sides of the adjacent layers extend perpendicularly to the furnace wall and are folded to form alternating inner and outer folds which are adjacent to the inner and outer surfaces. The blanket is supported on the inner wall of the furnace by rods or bars extending through the sides of the blanket, adjacent to the outer folds, and received in a suspension channel mounted on the outer surface of the blanket between the folds and attached to the inner surface of the furnace.
