PURPOSE:To attain a small-sized and low-noise fan by producing an air flow from an image forming member and a reading sensor to a lamp by means of a cooler such as a fan to suppress the wind volume and wind pressure required for the fan to a low value. CONSTITUTION:The fan 16 is installed to the side of the image forming member 3 and the read sensor 4 in an original reader main body for the lamp 1, the air sucked from the outside of the original reader is blown toward a scanned medium as shown in the arrow A, a suction fan 17 is installed to the lamp 1 for the image forming member 3 and the read sensor 4, the air is sucked from the scanned medium as shown in the arrow B and discharged to the outside of the original reader. Thus, the temperature rise due to the heat of the lamp is minimized in a rod lens array and the read sensor with a low heat resistance by directing the air flow nearly in parallel with the moving direction of the scanned medium from the image forming member and the read sensor toward the lamp.
