PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication unit by which a user seeing an E mail can simply return a mail to a transmission source facsimile terminal when the user desires a reply. SOLUTION: A facsimile terminal capable of facsimile communication via the Internet is provided with means (30, 32, 34) that register communication specifications and a sub address signal corresponding to a memory box and with a means that detects a caller telephone number. When facsimile terminal detects the sub address signal and the communication specifications corresponding to the sub address signal indicates facsimile transmission via the Internet to a specific destination in the case of reception, a recording circuit 16 transmits received information without printing it out. Upon the receipt of facsimile communication via the Internet that is a return from the Internet facsimile terminal, the facsimile terminal does not print out the received information but transmits the facsimile information to the destination to which the facsimile information is transmitted first.
