PURPOSE:To improve fuel cost for a car and to prevent the generation of vibration of a car body by changing the degree of sliding of a fluid coupling corresponding to the fluctuation per unit time in a car velocity of the car. CONSTITUTION:A propulsion device of a car is adapted to control the degree of sliding of a torque converter T by comparing each velocity ratio calculated on the basis of speed change ratio of a speed change gear with the actual input/ output velocity ratio of the torque converter in such a manner that the lower the actual velocity ratio is, the larger the degree of sliding is. Thus, the sliding can be suitably controlled, in due consideration of a car velocity, a speed change step and an engine rev count. Accordingly, it is possible to keep vibration of an engine from being transmitted to a car body unnecessarily and to improve fuel cost for the car. |
