PURPOSE:To attain collective transmission of picture data for plural pages by making a facsimile receiving section detect an error and notify the result to a transmitting section, and retransmitting the picture data in which the error occurred. CONSTITUTION:In the transmitting side, picture data including completion signal for a page are stored in a memory 4 for plural pages, and picture data for plural pages are transmitted collectively from a circuit controlling section 6 through a high speed MODEM 5-1. In the receiving side, the collective picture data are stored in a receiving side memory 13, extended and recorded. When stored in the memory 13, extended and recorded. When stored in the memory 13, extended and recorded. When stored in the memory 13, an error detecting section 15 detects presence of an error, and if there is an error, notifies to an error notifying section 16 and notifies to the transmitting side. In the trnsmitting side, an error notice detecting section 7 detects the error notice from the receiving side, and makes resending processing for the erroneous part.
