PURPOSE:To simplify the system constitution and to reduce the system cost by employing a sensor chip having an electric charge memory section possible for storing temporarily an electric charge as at least one column of sensor chips among two columns of linear image sensor chips arranged in a line. CONSTITUTION:A memory section 51 consists of a charge transfer, for example, whose transfer is controlled by a device clock of a sensor, has the same constitution as that of a transfer section 4, but has different transfer direction and is realized without changing the present process. Plural delay memories for a voltage signal are omitted for a multi-chip contact type picture reader by using sensor chips 60- with memory functions. In this case, in designing the feed time for N lines' share of an original corresponding to a mutual interval l of a photo-sensing section so as to be coincident with the charge storage time of a memory section 61 of the said sensor chip 60, each output of sensor chips 50- and each output of sensor chips 1b- have the identical timing. |
