PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively using a bit map developing memory. SOLUTION: In a method for controlling a page printer comprising four printing drums for YMCK colors, disposed side by side and a rendering ICs provided each corresponding to the printing drums for each color, at the time of the access control of each corresponding rendering IC with a band memory for a bank provided corresponding to each of combinations of two rendering ICs in the rendering ICs for the YMCK colors, an access specified signal for specifying the access control is received from the outside so that the access control is executed with the time division for one of the corresponding two rendering ICs prioritized or the access control is permitted for only one of them according to the access specified signal. Thereby, the access control is executed with respect to the band memory with the preset time division of the two rendering ICs or for only the permitted rendering IC.
