PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of an amorphous iron alloy and to increase the insulation by treating the surface of the iron alloy with an aqueous soln. of a sexivalent chromium compound. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous iron alloy such as Fe-Si-B or Fe-P-B is immersed in an aqueous soln. of a sexivalent chromium compound, preferably chromium (VI) oxide to treat the surface. The concn. of the aqueous soln. is >= about 5wt%, preferably about 10-80wt%, the temp. is >= about 50 deg.C, and the immersion time is >= about 10min, preferably >= about 20min. |
